No Furniture So Charming as Books

When I go to a bookstore, I like to stand at the end of an aisle and look down the length of it, pretending that I'm at home, admiring my own library. So, yeah, looking at beautiful bookstores and beautiful bookshelves is pretty much like dying and going to bibliophile heaven.

one of my dreams is to one day live in a bookstore. my house be so filled with books on gorgeous shelves that it might as well be a bookstore, except that I can kick people out of it and i never have to sell any of the books. and I can nap freely in any corner and spill things and have pets and secret society meetings and whatever other zany things I pretend I'm doing or dreaming of doing when i'm in bookstores...

sigh. I almost *bought* a bookstore but the fates were not aligned - still feel melancholy about that.

Cool picture. Did you take it?

Yeah, that would be cool. There are a number of little independents in the nearby university town that I wouldn't mind working (living) in.

i didn't take it - it was in a movie I saw and instantly loved it - so I searched the interwebs for a still shot of it and found it there.

the one I was hoping to buy was here on saltspring island - they curate lovely books and nothing is too tall so i can reach and see everything and foxy (my dog) sits in the doorway and makes everyone who wants to love books also love her. I got to sit in on a couple shifts to learn the secrets and it was wonderful - it's in my things to make happen later when i'm done with the dream i'm currently living.

Interesting you mention beautiful bookstores as I am currently writing this from the library at UCLA.

Not my photo and not really the coolest room in the library, but it gives an idea of the Moorish Romanesque feel of the place.
